New Eviction Moratorium

JANUARY 21, 2021 –

“The CDC just extended the eviction “moratorium” through March 31st,” stated Nick DiNardo, Legal Aid Managing Attorney. Click on this link to read the full announcement: https://www.cdc.gov/…/2021/s0121-eviction-moratorium.html

Nick continued, “However, it only applies to evictions for nonpayment of rent, and requires the tenant to take the affirmative step of serving their landlord with a CDC declaration.

Unfortunately, tenants who don’t know about the order are still being evicted for nonpayment of rent. Tenants who do serve the declaration are also still being evicted by over-zealous courts who feel that the tenant did not use their “best efforts” to make partial payments, which are often refused by landlords, or to apply for rental assistance, from agencies that have long waitlist and are overburdened with the extreme need in our community.”

If you are threatened with eviction, please contact Community Action Agency at (513) 569-1840, select option 4 or Talbert House at 513-338-8596 to see if you qualify for rental assistance.

If you have received a notice that an eviction was filed against you and need immediate legal assistance, please call the Legal Aid line at 513.241.9400.
