Legal Aid and the VLP celebrate Law Day with the Butler County Bar Assocation

MAY 8, 2017
Thanks to the Butler County Bar Association (BCBA) for inviting Legal Aid and the Volunteer Lawyer Project to join in the celebration of Law Day 2017. This year’s Law Day theme was: The 14th Amendment: Transforming American Democracy. Judge Margot Halcomb was the event’s MC.
Thank you to the 42 BCBA member attorneys, as well as other VLP attorneys who accepted referrals for 179 Butler County cases. Their pro bono efforts assisted 228 adults and 132 children in Butler County who would not otherwise have had access to an attorney. Check out the list of VLP attorneys who took cases in Butler County! Adolfo Olivas, Legal Aid Society of Southwest Ohio Immigration Team Leader and current First Vice President of the Butler County Bar Association noted, “There is a need for attorneys to take a larger interest and greater role in the plight of the low income people by involving themselves in pro bono and volunteer opportunities.” If you’d like to volunteer with the VLP, please the VLP’s website: http://vlpcincinnati.org.
