YOUR SUPPORT HELPS KEEP FAMILIES IN SAFE AND STABLE HOUSING
“Without Legal Aid,” said Ross, “my family and I would have been homeless.”
When Ross’ family home was at risk of being foreclosed on, Legal Aid stepped in to save it.
Attorney Phil Rich with Ross.
Ross, a Navy veteran, union millwright, and family man, feared homelessness when COVID-related layoffs threatened the VA mortgage on his family’s home. His lender refused to work with him or modify the loan and instead filed for foreclosure. But Ross continued to fight for his family and Save the Dream Ohio approved him for mortgage assistance soon after.
Legal Aid Attorney Phil Rich represented Ross to prevent the foreclosure and get his mortgage reinstated. Even with complications in the lender’s responses, Legal Aid was able to finally get the required information so the mortgage assistance could be applied correctly. The foreclosure was cancelled, letting Ross and his family stay in their home with a manageable mortgage payment.
“My family is safe because of Phil and Legal Aid,” said Ross, “and that means the world to me.”
Stable housing is the foundation for the wellbeing of low and moderate-income families. Your support will help Legal Aid keep Southwest Ohio families safe and stable.
