After living in ‘ice box’ for over a week, Roselawn resident says heat is restored after WCPO 9 asks questions

DECEMBER 3, 2024 – Tenants at Heirlooms of Cincinnati, a Roselawn apartment complex, now have heat after days of freezing, thanks to the combined efforts of the City of Cincinnati, Legal Aid, and @wcpo9_news.

WCPO covered the story of Willie Vinegar, a resident of the apartment complex who had been forced to use a hair dryer to stay warm when the temperature in her apartment dropped to 32 degrees. Earlier in the day, Legal Aid Attorney Nick DiNardo spoke with WCPO, noting that “They’ve got to put her up in a hotel if they can’t fix the heat.” He commented that Legal Aid has an ongoing lawsuit with the Apartment complex owners and that the city had sent inspectors and a representative from the health department to the complex on Monday. DiNardo concluded, “Unfortunately, the owners have a lot of deferred maintenance work to do.”
